General conditions applicable to the services of the association, forming part of the contract concluded with the client.

1. Information

The lawyer keeps the client regularly informed about the execution of the assignment and the progress of the case. The client shall provide all relevant information throughout the duration of the assignment.

2. Third Parties

The lawyer will only engage other third parties with the express consent of the client.

3-4. Fees

Two methods are available: fixed fee or hourly rate. Hourly rates depend on the lawyer’s experience, the complexity of the case, urgency and required specialized knowledge.

5. Invoicing

All amounts are exclusive of VAT. Interim invoices for completed work will be deducted from the final invoice.

6. Expense Reimbursement

Court and bailiff costs are charged without markup. Secretarial services: EUR 12/letter, EUR 0.75/page copy, EUR 20/registered letter.

7. Payment Terms

Payment is due within one month of the invoice date. In case of non-payment, 9% annual interest will be charged as well as a fixed compensation of 10% on the unpaid balance.

8. Third Party Funds

The lawyer will transfer client funds without delay. He may withhold amounts to cover provisions or the final invoice.

9. Professional Liability

Minimum insurance coverage of EUR 1,250,000 per lawyer.

10. Termination

The client may terminate at any time in writing. The lawyer may terminate with reasonable notice to allow the client to obtain other assistance.

11. Applicable Law and Disputes

Belgian law applies. The courts of Antwerp have sole jurisdiction. Disputes are preferably settled amicably or through the procedures of the Bar Association.
